Tarot Card of the Month - July

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:

What card would serve the readers most for July 2026?

Our result?...

Knight of Coins!

Here now finally, for the first time since starting this series, we received a Knight card! Knights are the travelers, explorers, adventurers, and apprentices of the Minor Arcana. They bring the energy of competition, an eagerness to prove themselves on some kind of challenge or quest, and a desire to apply the knowledge they have learned to test and to see how far they can go.

As the 12^th card in the suit, they embody the energy of 1, 2, and 3 (because 1 + 2 = 3). In numerology, when numbers build in a sequence, it signifies an increase in momentum. This is encouragement to keep moving forward, even when things seem beyond tough. However, since the Knight is coming after we received the Queen of Coins last month, this is your gentle reminder to continue to practice your basics, even when you have reached an advanced level. 

This card also embodies the traits of the Empress (3) and the Hanged Man (12) of the Major Arcana. Together, they encourage you to find satisfaction in more than just results and logic. There is self-empowerment to be found in adapting to shifting circumstances; it’s a reward in its own!

One quick note and a mini reading for this month: The Knight of Coins (aka Pentacles &/or Discs) also came out with the Queen of Wands and the Ace of Swords. Together, these archetypes tell a story of the great focus and determination that is needed at the beginning of a journey, the gentleness you need to give yourself as you learn, grow, and pivot along the journey, and the patience and persistence needed to see the journey to its destination. You’ve made great progress and are encouraged to continue forward at a pace that allows the time and space to rest and to enjoy the fruits of your labor along the way. After rest, keep going as soon as you are recharged; don’t delay or get lost in side quests that are irrelevant to your overall objective; you’ve got this!!! 

Now, with all that said, let’s dive deeper into the Knight of Coins to see what it wants to teach us about ourselves this July! 

From a high-level perspective, the Knight of Coins aims to emphasize the need to both make and to keep your commitments. This archetype represents the structure, dedication, and organization that supports your expedited progress forward. Without these elements, you’re likely to knock around aimlessly because without a goal, how do you know if where you’re going and how you’re headed there is working? Embrace parameters and boundaries for they provide the structure that you desperately need right now.

The energy of this card loves tradition and authority. It reminds you that it is okay to honor your material interests alongside pursuing spiritual growth. We are souls having a human experience on Earth, which means that we are both spiritual and physical beings while we are here, so embrace both and be the bridge that you are!

Empowered, the archetype of the Knight of Coins proudly accepts life’s obligations with gusto because it knows that it is a privilege to have a human life on Earth. Dedication and reliability radiate from its center, so powerfully at times that they can be mistaken for rigidity and stubbornness, but the Knight of Coins doesn’t care – it’s too focused on being its best to allow other people’s opinions to enter its awareness.

Wounded, the archetype of the Knight of Coins lacks discipline, has gotten lazy in day-to-day life, avoids making plans, and is painfully lethargic when it comes to moving forward at all. This can look like the person who is always starting something new. They’re after a quick fix to their problem that only lasts a fleeting moment instead of seeing their goal to fruition and enjoying a lasting solution that can be built upon for future projects.

In its full potential, the archetype of the Knight of Coins takes its clarity of ambition, makes note of what needs to be done, and focuses on the energy of the future result while simultaneously staying present in the now and enjoying the process along the way. There is no rush with this energy, just steady commitment like the blacksmith who hammers the sword with anvil and hammer, fire and sweat, love for the work and a vision for the result that will be born into the world.

The seed has been planted – follow the path of growth and cultivate that which you came to create.  

So, for July, I invite and encourage you to embrace the guidance of the Knight of Coins. 

From a practical perspective, to utilize the energy of the Knight of Coins for your mental self-care, introduce creative self-expression into your life. If there is an art form you’ve wanted to explore, now is the time. For your body’s self-care, add an energizing citrus scented face wash that will invigorate your morning and help you start the day with gusto.  For your spirit’s self-care, meditate with citrine crystals and recite powerful mantras in the mirror to send out positive vibes for the success of your current journey. Finally, if called, you can work with the yucca plant to ground your spirituality in practical ways, to put a new spin on old traditions, and to honor your ancestors and the land upon which you live.

Finally, here are some journaling questions/prompts that you can ask yourself and write about when you work with the archetype of the Knight of Coins:

• In what ways can you be more practical in your approach towards your goal / destination / resolution?

• When life throws the inevitable curve balls, how well do you pivot?

• Can you find the wisdom hiding withing the trials and difficulties of life?

• In what ways to you balance dignity with the learning process?

• Can you be more flexible with your work and show yourself the generosity of adaptability?

• If yes, then what would that look like in your daily routines?

These questions are an invitation to dive deep into your psyche to explore what is there that you want to keep, what you might want to adjust, or what you might want to get rid of completely. Much of the process of growth, development, and ascension involves exploring the inner depths of our own minds so that we can excavate the gold that is deep within and wash away the sediment that doesn’t belong there anymore. Think of inner inquiry like sifting for gold. That is how I like to see it.
