“All systems of divination can be tools into another world. Join me as we explore one Tarot card each month to see how the Tarot can serve as a tool towards spiritual awakening and aligning with your personal sovereignty.”— Nikki Aggarwal
As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart: What card would serve the readers most in the sixth month of 2025?Our result?...
The 8 of Cups!
At first glance, one might feel forlorn or apprehensive about this card. You might even wonder: has the “positive” streak we’ve been on these last few months come to an end?
To that I say: looks can be deceiving! All Tarot cards have the potential to express both wounded and empowered energy (what we often call negative and positive), and sometimes they want us to receive a little bit of both in a reading. So, let’s dive deeper into the 8 of Cups to see what it wants to teach us this month.
From a high-level perspective, the 8 of Cups suggests it’s time to make a move. Honor with gratitude all of the lessons, relationships, skills, and knowledge you’ve gained on your journey so far. The past is the past; it can’t be changed, but it can be resourced for the pearls of wisdom it holds.
At this point in your journey, it’s time to graduate from your regular routine, explore new horizons, and discover new territory, especially within yourself.
Considering the last two cards we received (The Hierophant and the 3 of Coins), which encouraged us to build rituals and routines around our sacred work, layering those insights with the 8 of Cups feels like guidance to find better balance and harmony between the inner and outer aspects of life so that we can pivot in a direction that better serves our highest good.
In other words, it’s time to walk away—from something, from someone, or from an old belief or story you hold about yourself—so you can explore the new you that wants to rise to the surface.
With any meaningful change, there are bound to be things that try to keep you where you’ve been, rather than where you’re going. Those fears, challenges, doubts, resistances are all a normal part of the process of transformation. I repeat, they are normal!
But just because they’re normal doesn’t mean they should dictate your behavior. As one of my mentors says (and I paraphrase), “All feelings are welcome here, but no feelings are an excuse for bad behavior.”
In June alone, we’re already shifting seasons. In the Northern Hemisphere, we welcome Summer with the Solstice on Friday, June 20th. There’s also an astrological shift as the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer. This is your invitation to bring your emotions into the light. Just like the 8 of Cups suggests, the goal is to find balance among it all.
From a numerological lens, the number 8 is all about manifestation. So, what are you creating? How is your relationship with your emotions?
The suit of Cups is connected to water, which, when it comes to us humans, relates to our emotional world. With the Sun entering Cancer (a water sign), again we are asked: How is your relationship with your emotions?
Our emotions are part of an internal guidance system that helps us navigate the complexities of life. When you’re in a good relationship with your emotions, they can help you feel the messages of your Higher Self through your body’s intuitive responses. When that relationship is strained, it becomes easier to misinterpret or ignore those messages, cutting you off from support your Higher Self is trying to give.
No matter what your emotional landscape looks like, there’s no judgment from your Higher Self or from the Source of All That Is. You are loved unconditionally and witnessed with compassion as your life unfolds according to your own free will. But should you choose “the choice of no choice,” meaning you surrender your will to the guidance of your Higher Self, get ready for a completely new experience of life.
Here are some questions to consider when working with the 8 of Cups:
What do you want to leave or avoid?
What feelings of loss or regret do you hold about the past, and how can you love those feelings back into unity within yourself?
How can you incorporate spiritual practices into your daily life?
Where might you be holding onto something that once served you but no longer does, simply because you fear the change it might bring?
These questions are invitations to go deep. What do you want to keep? What might you want to adjust? What is ready to be released? Growth, development, and ascension often require us to explore the depths of our own minds, sifting for the gold within and washing away what no longer belongs.
That’s how I like to see inner inquiry: as gold-sifting. 🌀
And if you need help, reach out. You can send a message through my website to request a connect call or schedule a Zoom reading. My goal is to help clients feel stronger, more self-empowered, and aligned with their personal sovereignty, while we witness how the changes they make inside themselves ripple outward to transform their outer world, too.
Remember: you deserve the best of what you can give yourself.
Peace and blessings to you and yours. In loving light, I look forward to exploring next month’s card for July 2025! ✨
